Sometime this year, I realized I was slowly becoming someone I didn’t like. I was comfortably uncomfortable; I wanted new opportunities, but I was also content with where I was. I longed for “something” I wasn’t putting much effort into, which wasn’t normal. I wanted to lose weight, but I had no self-control over what I was eating. I “tried” to save money but would buy whatever I wanted and could “afford. I desperately needed to get in alignment with my goals and QUICK! While change is inevitable, growth is always a choice.
After careful consideration, I decided that my comfort zone wasn’t bringing me true joy, so I took time to prioritize my personal growth. Not for me as a mom or friend but for me.

Mindset Shift
I first had to identify what I wanted to experience in my present and future. This required me to adopt a change of mindset. The mind is a driver of the body and soul, and it’s paramount to have a clear mind to accurately envision what you want to see in your life, without doubt and negative self talk. I focused on my spirituality and leveraged consistent therapy, to sort through the complex feelings of trauma, fear, and regret.
What Does Personal Growth Look Like for You?
In addition, I reflected on my honest desires. In order to feel what my personal self-improvement would look like, I started journaling about who I wanted to become and the actions I would need to take. I envisioned the life I would choose if money were not a factor. What activities would I be involved in, and what kind of friends do I want to have? What does my schedule look like in this dream life? We all know who we aspire to be but usually wait for someone to validate it before acting. So stop worrying about what people think. You must understand that a lot of our self-belief is what someone told you about yourself, and you don’t have to carry that burden. What do you think of you?
Limit Distractions
It’s safe to say that the things we think are our places of solace or peace may actually be our distractions. You need to know that your only peace is internal. No matter how much the people you find comfort in may validate you, you will never find internal rest in another person, place, or thing. Your internal home is your sanctuary and your safe space. If you think you can find peace in others, what happens to you when they leave?
Creating a welcoming space for your mind, body, and soul is crucial. Making your “home” is the groundwork for finding yourself.
Allow Yourself to Grow
In learning this, I became more mindful and intentional in my behavior and thinking. I welcomed more positive thoughts and attracted amazing people. In the past, I was in a revolving cycle of “dealing with life,” plagued by people-pleasing. I am now determined to live by design and with intention.
Take The First Step to Personal Growth
Finally, follow up with actions. You will hear me say this a lot, but create a plan! Take small steps every day to become your dream woman. Planning is so beneficial to this process that I’ve created a 5 step goal setting blueprint to better align you with your goals here. You could also Read books that align with that lifestyle and make moves with intent and purpose. If your dream is to be fit and toned, you must create a plan to achieve that. Position yourself to meet the people you want in your life and go to the places you dreamed of going. It’s okay to be delusional about your life; this is your life. Growth and change are natural. Stepping outside our comfort zones and embracing new opportunities allows us to learn different skills, meet new people, and gain new perspectives. It can be intimidating to take that first step, but the rewards are often well worth it.
Silence is Key
During this delicate period of personal growth, we may look to people or places for comfort, but these distractions can hinder our progress. We may feel so passionate about new ideas that we want to share them with someone, but it’s important to remember that no one will understand our vision as well as we do. Others may have questions or concerns or not offer much feedback at all. It’s common to value the opinions of those we trust, but we must remember that our validation comes from within. This doesn’t mean we can’t have supportive people on our journey, but we must protect our process and ensure our internal home is our sanctuary. When we rely too heavily on others for validation and peace, we have nothing left when they’re no longer around.
