1. A Man is Not a Financial Plan
If this were true, you wouldn’t be reading this post. Social media has a lot of people living in a delusion and chasing fantasies. The truth is, a partner will not wipe away your financial woes. Educating yourself on becoming more financially fit is essential because your financial situation doesn’t get easier just because you are dating. Know your worth and strive to become a BOSS MAMA—love on you and your kid(s). There is a plethora of financial information to learn and grow from(Check out the Budgetnista). The right person will come along soon enough, and he may provide the financial stability you desire, but in the meantime, make a diligent effort first to be financially literate for yourself and grow into the person you desire to be.
2. Take Care of Yourself
Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Stop crying over the past. No more feeling guilty. All of these feelings are negative and exude negative energy. It would benefit you to seek tools and resources to help you grasp these emotions when you feel yourself slipping in a dark space; your children feel this energy and can sense when you aren’t at your best. Challenge yourself daily by changing your negative thoughts and habits and replacing them with positive ones that will push you to create your desired life. Light candles, read a motivational book, get some single mamas together, and have a vision board party over wine. You may discover that someone has the same goals and journey. Dig deep and discover your interests and what makes you happy outside of being a mother because, believe it or not, “Mom” is not your identity. So, make time and space for YOU!
3. You’re Going to F^@* up
Motherhood, well, for me, is not peaches and cream. We never really have all the resources, and motherhood is a learn-as-you-go experience. When you feel guilty, think of ways to improve your situation or what you are grateful for. Something as simple as organizing the few hours you have after work may help with stress tremendously. You could even take time to meditate, but again, make sure your focus is on the positive and give yourself grace.
